FDDI preparing its students to pursue a career in footwear design and development in order to become world number 1 in footwear providers
India has always
been very rich in sculptures and artisans. In olden times, there were many
skilful workers who use to make leather shoes and footwear by using simple
equipment. They did not possess any state of the art machinery and did not have
any formal education in this field. There are still many villages where men
often known as cobblers are engaged in making footwear and are earning their
livelihood. However times have changed and there is a greater demand of
footwear both in India as well as abroad.
Keeping in mind
the increasing demand for leather good the ministry of commerce has envisages a
great potential in the footwear industry. It has been found out that currently
China is the world leader in producing footwear and is leading in export of
leather goods. India has realised a potential in the field of leather goods and
want to supersede China as far as exports of leather goods and footwear is
concerned. Therefore it has been decided that FDDI is going to open yet another 5 campuses in the current years
so that India has no dearth of skilled and dedicated youths who can take up
this challenge.
FDDI offer both
undergraduate as well as post graduate courses in footwear design and
development. The undergraduate course is for a duration of 3 years and provides
a bachelor degree whereas post graduate course is for a duration of 2 years and
provides a master degree which is recognised in both India as well as abroad.
In order to get admission in any of the courses it is mandatory to clear the
entrance exam which is going to be held in 7th June -9th
June 2017.
